Will Andersen

President & Managing Partner

Estate Planning Attorney

Attorney William E. Andersen, Jr. is the President and Managing Partner of The Andersen Firm. What makes Will a favorite among clients is his ability to present concepts both clearly and concisely, whether it is in the realm of estate planning, funding, asset protection, or estate settlement and probate.

Will’s research on estate planning techniques has proven beneficial for both the financial advisors with whom the law firm partners and for clients of The Andersen Firm.

Attorney Will Andersen is a member of the New York Bar  and WealthCounsel, and he is a candidate to sit for the Florida Bar. He received his J.D. from the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, Hempstead, NY and his B.S. from Flagler College, St. Augustine, FL.

I like to say my first job was “block player” on the floor at The Andersen Firm. My parents, Bill and Jane Andersen, founded The Andersen Firm in 1993 in Kingsport, Tennessee. Being the son of two attorneys and growing up in The Andersen Firm, it was inevitable that the torch would pass to me eventually. However, I had no idea how much estate planning would affect my own life.

When I was 13, my mother was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s Disease. Years later, her disease progressed, and capacity was lost, and through proper estate planning, she controlled who would make the decisions she could no longer make for herself.

At 18, I was asleep in the passenger seat of a car which was struck by a tractor-trailer car hauler. I was hospitalized for weeks. I was barely considered an adult, which could have created many problems for my parents involving my care and finances. However, my estate plan eliminated those challenges. I sustained serious injuries in the accident; my spine was fractured in seven places and my right foot was amputated. I was anxious to get back to school and work before my first prosthetic was made, so I persisted and created my own.

I am and have always been The Andersen Firm. I developed exceptional standards by working in various capacities at the firm throughout my childhood: answering phones in middle school, basic administrative work in high school, marketing and human resources while in college, and after college, traveling with attorneys to assist with client meetings. I had always known that estate planning was what I wanted to do, and eventually decided to make it official and attended law school at Hofstra University in New York.

It was at Hofstra that I found a passion for guiding people to create environments that are productive and harmonious. I developed a true understanding that what I had helped facilitate during my whole life at The Andersen Firm was not simply drafting trusts, protecting assets, and solving estate tax issues. I was in the unique position to go to work every day and help people. By maintaining long-standing commitments, and developing every component to the most exact standard, I could make a difference in each individual’s life, and their children’s lives, and their grandchildren’s lives. My work empowers people to make an everlasting expression of the exceptional and leave a legacy that will outlast them and even outlast me.

Today, I am lucky enough to go to work every day and strategically maneuver complex issues and relationships and restore stability and prosperity for individuals and families. From simple estates to the most complex and cutting-edge estate planning strategies available, I am lucky and quite pleased to be here to help.

Attorney Will Andersen is the proud father of Henry, born in 2021 and Liam, a 6-year-old cancer survivor. When not working, Will enjoys spending time with his sons at his fly-fishing lodge in Northeast Tennessee.
